J. Peter Dowd is a 1975 graduate of the University of Chicago Law School.  His experience in representing employee benefit funds includes advice to boards of trustees, review of contracts with investment advisors and fund managers, negotiations with service providers, and representation in investigations by the US Department of Labor and Internal Revenue Service.

He has been lead counsel in cases for fund clients and in class action and other cases in federal district court and courts of appeals.  He has represented both private and governmental pension and welfare plans and training and apprentice funds.

He is admitted to practice in the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois (trial attorney), the Illinois Supreme Court, the United States Supreme Court, and the United States Courts of Appeals for the Fourth, Fifth, Seventh and Eighth Circuits where he has argued cases.
